Introduction The training mission to Moldova took place on 14-18 June, 2010 in Chisinau at the Odiseu Hotel in coordination with the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry (Ministerul Agriculturii si Industriei Alimentare) and Sanitary Veterinary and for Animal Origin Food Safety Agency (Agentia Sanitar-Veterinara si pentru Siguranta Produselor de Origine Animala). The training mission to Moldova was the first in the series to take place.
Moldova is currently a HPAI free country; however, it is considered a high‐risk country because of its shared border with Ukraine. As outbreaks have recently occurred in neighbouring countries, there is great potential for an outbreak of HPAI in Moldova. Fellow Eastern European countries Russia, Romania, and Ukraine have some of the highest numbers of outbreaks.
