Introduction
The training mission in China, 11 -27 May 2009, was the seventh and final of the sustained trainings and was delivered in cooperation with Government of China, Ministry of Agriculture’s Veterinary Bureau and Centre for Animal Disease Control, Beijing. Two training workshops on outbreak response management and one training workshop on laboratory biosafety and biosecurity were delivered.

Training Location and Dates
The training was held in Beijing from 11 – 27 May 2009.

Participants
In total 43 participants attended the three training workshops with representation by at least one participant from 27 provinces in China. Please see Annex I for the complete participant lists. Of the 43 participants 9 were female; all participants held relevant senior positions to the training topics. The beneficiaries were primarily in a strong position for dissemination locally and had baseline knowledge and understanding of the HPAI related issues.

Experts
The technical content of the training workshops was delivered by three European experts Dr. Daniel Beltran-Alcrudo, Mr. Harm Kiezebrink and Dr. Alemka Markotic.
