Introduction The Bulgaria training took place from 26 January – 13 February 2009. The training was organised in cooperation with the National Veterinary Service and the European and International Programs and Projects Directorate, Ministry of Agriculture and Food. The training mission to Bulgaria was the fourth of the sustained trainings to take place and was delivered by two international experts over a 3-week period.

Training Location and Dates The technical assistance mission consisted of three 5-day training workshops. The training workshops were held in the capital, Sofia, in central Bulgaria in Stara Zagora and on the eastern part of the country on the Black Sea in Varna.
- January 26 – 30, 2009 in Sofia at the National Diagnostic Veterinary Research Institute.
- February 2 -6, 2009 in Stara Zagora at Hotel Zheleznik
- February 9 - 13, 2009 in Varna at the Hotel Cherno More
Participants A total of 72 participants benefited from the three trainings. The final trainees were primarily veterinarians with a high level of management and decision-making at the municipal and regional levels. Added value was gained through the attendance of participants from the National Diagnostic Research Veterinary Institute, Science Laboratory Control and training department and the Animal Health Directorate.
Experts The technical trainings for the mission were carried out by Dr. Dubravka Selenic and Mr. Guy Minet.
